Over the next several weeks, all of our grade 7 students will be involved in a district-prescribed character education/reflection program called "Turning Points" in language arts class.
Students will complete the bulk of this work in a work booklet in school which will ultimately culminate in a reflective essay describing a 'turning point' in their lives. Please take a few moments to discuss this with your child at home, perhaps helping him/her to decide on an important event in his/her life about which to write. If you have any questions regarding this program, please feel free to contact me.
Once we have reached the stage of selecting a topic and writing the essay, students will be asked to bring a notice home that indicates the topic they have chosen. I will indicate on my homework page when these topics have been sent home. If you do not approve of your child's choice of topic, please discuss with your child an alternate topic on which he or she will be prepared to write. (Please note that as a part of the writing process your child would have brainstormed several possible topics prior to making their final selection of topic.) Please return the notice with a new topic indicated. If you approve of your child's topic choice, there is no need to return the form.
